About the event

Dr. Rajiv K. Pruthi, M.B.B.S., is the Director of the Hemophilia Treatment Center and Co-Director of both the Special Coagulation Laboratory and the Molecular Hematopathology Laboratory at Mayo Clinic. He is a Professor of Medicine with expertise in the molecular and genetic diagnosis of thrombotic and bleeding disorders, focusing on translating laboratory science into clinical care.

At Mayo Clinic, Dr. Pruthi provides comprehensive care for patients with coagulation disorders, including hemophilia and von Willebrand disease. His team specializes in personalized treatment, and he has led significant research efforts, such as a trial comparing bolus infusion versus continuous infusion of recombinant activated factor VII in hemophilia patients undergoing surgery. Additionally, Dr. Pruthi's team developed advanced diagnostic tools for von Willebrand disease and published critical studies on autoimmune factor V inhibitors.

Dr. Pruthi’s research focuses on improving patient outcomes, reducing hospitalizations, and enhancing the quality of life for patients. His work has been pivotal in helping young patients stay in school and older patients remain active in their daily lives. Future research aims to address early joint damage in bleeding disorder patients and improve care for women with bleeding disorders.
